How will we eat in the future? Will there be only beans, rice and algae burgers on our plates soon? Or insects? By 2050, the world population is expected to grow to 9 billion people. The current methods of meat production and latest consumption patterns cannot meet this demand for animal proteins. The question of alternatives is therefore more urgent than ever. For the exhibition Meat the Future, a team of cooks, designers, engineers and artists developed 30 farmed meat dishes that could be on our plates in the future. Since farmed meat is still in development, the dishes cannot be eaten (yet). However, they can be a starting point to think about and discuss the food culture of the future. Additionally, the exhibition shows further artistic and scientific positions on the topic of meat and related questions.

Wie werden wir uns in Zukunft ernähren? Liegen bald nur noch Bohnen, Reis und Algenburger auf unseren Tellern? Oder gar Insekten? Bis zum Jahr 2050 wird die Weltbevölkerung voraussichtlich auf 9 Milliarden Menschen anwachsen. Mit den bisherigen Methoden der Fleischproduktion und dem aktuellen Konsumverhalten kann dieser Bedarf an tierischen Proteinen nicht gedeckt werden. Die Frage nach Alternativen ist daher dringender denn je. Für die Ausstellung Meat the Future hat ein Team aus Köchen, Designern, Ingenieuren und Künstlern 30 Zuchtfleischgerichte entwickelt, die in Zukunft auf unseren Tellern liegen könnten. Weil sich Zuchtfleisch noch in der Entwicklung befindet, kann man die Gerichte (noch) nicht essen. Sie können allerdings ein Ausgangspunkt sein, um über die Esskultur der Zukunft nachzudenken und zu diskutieren. Ergänzt wird die Ausstellung von weiteren künstlerischen und wissenschaftlichen Positionen zum Thema Fleisch und damit verbundenen Fragestellungen.
