Meat the Future

13.12.2019 until 26.01.2020

How will we eat in the future? Will there soon only be beans, rice and algae burgers on our plates? Or even insects? The world's population is expected to grow to 9 billion people by 2050. The current methods of meat production and current consumer behaviour will not be able to meet this demand for animal proteins. The question of alternatives is therefore more urgent than ever. For the Meat the Future exhibition, a team of chefs, designers, engineers and artists has developed 30 farmed meat dishes that could be on our plates in the future. Because farmed meat is still being developed, the dishes cannot (yet) be eaten. However, they can be a starting point for thinking about and discussing the food culture of the future. The exhibition is complemented by other artistic and scientific positions on the subject of meat and related issues.
