Since 2019, the A.K.T; has been a place for social discourse and an interdisciplinary laboratory of the future - in regular exhibitions with international artists, it makes the social relevance of art and design visible. Now the A.K.T; is also taking this message to the outside world: with a large-format mural by Polish artist Simpson, which he realised on the east wall of the A.K.T; in July 2023.

The occasion for the artwork is the exhibition "Nothing New in the East" (21 October 2023-14 January 2024), which attempts to discuss the Eastern European view of Europe, present Eastern European perspectives and enter into an open discourse, particularly with regard to the current crisis and war situation in Europe.

"Choose your destiny" is the invitation of the mural on the edge of a colourful square, based on the Nolan diagram, which classifies political currents according to the state's influence on economic and personal areas. With elements from comics and pop culture grouped around it, Simpson asks what we are guided by in the field of tension between the utopia created by politics and anarchy.

Simpson's work is representative of the work and content of the A.K.T. as a contemporary exhibition space and enhances the east wall in a sustainable way. The mural was made possible by the Werner Wild Foundation.
