Drama based on the novel of the same name by Virginia Wolf about a young nobleman who is given the gift of eternal life by Elizabeth I.
In 1660, the nobleman Orlando receives a rich gift from Queen Elizabeth I – with the condition that he never grow old. The feminine-looking lord thus lives through centuries, is sorely disappointed in his love for the beautiful Russian Sasha, takes refuge in poetry in mockery, becomes an English ambassador to the Orient, only to continue his life in the body of a woman until the present day. Only then does the eternally driven man finally find peace. A milestone of queer literature congenially filmed.
